We acquired a school allotment in 2020, however with the Covid Pandemic work was a little slow to take off. When a new pupil started Embleton View school in October he showed a huge love and interest in Horticulture. We have been extremely hard working at the allotment weeding, keeping the grounds tidy and erecting a new walk in greenhouse. The pupil has sown a variety of seeds which have bloomed, and we are awaiting the produce of potatoes, tomatoes and courgettes. The sunflowers which have been grown are going to be distributed to the wider community as part of this project. With all this dedicated work the pupil has completed a level 1 NCFE Award in Horticulture. Evidence from the gardening project will be accredited by the Royal Horticulture Society, as we are school gardening members and have achieved previous awards now means the school will gain a level three award. Look out for us during the next Coundon in bloom!
